Kirill Belousov is a self-taught musician. Born in 1981 in Moscow, Russia. Moved to Toronto in 2001.
He started plucking the strings of the father’s guitar and keys of mother’s piano in the age of 7. It gave him a feel of music on a very deep level. Back home he had a classmate who was running a school radio station. It was around 1994. Pretty much that was the first moment of pushing his first beginner’s control button. From this moment he started getting further into electronic music and understanding of the ways of sound. He never had his own computer at that time but that wasn’t a barrier. Starting from the easiest programs, such as Dance EJ he started creating his first ideas. That was a final push to whom he became now.
He started learning sound science him-self about 7 years ago. Than in 2004 Kirill went to the Toronto Film School and took a course of sound engineering. Since first semester he started taking a part in the short films to gain priceless experience. And for the last 4 years been working as a self employed freelancer sound engineer. Kirill really loves his
dream job mixing as a sound engineer. Over the last 5 years he has
completed more than 45 shorts films and 6 to 7 feature films. As a
composer/producer he takes pride in his deep knowledge of the technical
production process.
His young mind is always learning and searching for inspiration. He
is looking for that new sound or experience to feed his creative
process. His respectful approach inspires fresh ideas either as a
leader or as part of his expanding group of regular collaborators.
For the last 5 years he had his own DWS with a bunch of sound
editing/ mixing and music software, his own MIDI keyboard, speakers,
recorder and microphone and know how. That is what the modern sound engineer/ producer/ composer technically needs.
Most of the time Kirill uses Pro Tools for post production jobs. But he
knows many other programs and if he doesn't know the software he learns
it pronto. He is very friendly user with PC & Mac.
Kirill is huge fan
of Ragga Jungle, D'n'B, Reggae and he writes most of existing styles
and of music. In our times most of composer of electronics use lots of
samples. Kirill uses his own ideas instead and his own samples. He like
to collaborate different styles of music to create original sounding
compositions and in some cases experimental music. As he said by
himself: “Depending on the mood you are in at the moment you write,
you’ll come up with different types of music”. He is the member of the JAL
(Junglists At Large). Two and a half years ago Kirill finishes
Recording Arts Technology course at the Toronto Film School. He
obtained all the knowledge in a way of gained knowledge, skills and
techniques. Many things became brighter. Kirill also writes scores for
the film and video, which he considers lots of fun.
Kirill learned how
to play percussions and drum kit on his own. He also learned how to
play keyboard. He likes to create a new synthetic sound from any
synthesizer. One of his most recent creations is called " Chilling In
the City" it was inspired by the surrounding sound of the nature mixed
with the music. It’s a combination of our regular life noises and
sounds and a melodies that he put together along with them. This track
fully represents who Kirill is. The song is full of emotions and
feelings of the writer.
He had a lot of good feedback of his pieces from many different people, who can’t wait to slip a CD of his original and exiting tracks in to their CD players.
